Call for Nominations for International Resident Members of the JGME Editorial Board
The Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME) seeks current residents or fellows to serve as resident members on its Editorial Board. Applicants are eligible from any specialty or subspecialty in graduate medical education (GME) programs, and through ACGME-I-accredited or any international post-medical school training program.
JGME communicates new evidence about GME, informs and engages the GME community on important issues, and promotes scholarship and critical inquiry related to GME.
Qualified candidates should have:
- An interest in medical education and academic publishing
- Excellent writing skills and perhaps prior reviewing or editing experience
- Time to handle assignments of up to two manuscripts at a time and up to one new manuscript a month, and to participate in two short Editorial Board meetings per year, and in one annual all-day Editorial Board meeting (as your schedule permits)
- The support of their program director or supervisor, who is aware of the applicant’s potential participation in the JGME Editorial Board
Ideally, candidates will have two or more years remaining in their GME program. The appointment would begin immediately after selection. Read the call for nominations here on the JGME website.
The JGME Editorial Board is made up of 38 graduate medical educators and researchers from a wide range of institutions and specialties. The resident editor program was established a decade ago and is expanding this year to include more residents and fellows.

Understanding global practices in medical education helps to broaden our perspectives and ensures that our collective knowledge reflects the rich tapestry of experiences in health care education and training worldwide,” said Halah Ibrahim, MD, who also serves on the ACGME-I Board of Directors. “Through this call, we are inviting voices from residents [and fellows] around the world to share their unique perspectives and diverse training experiences. I encourage all aspiring resident editors and future medical educators and scholars to join our collaborative effort to shape the future of GME research.”
Candidates should email their CV and a brief letter of interest to jgme@acgme.org. The letter should include a statement that the applicant’s program director supports participation. The deadline for receipt of nomination materials is Monday, 11 March 2024.
